Arts at the Abbey brings free concerts by locally, nationally, and internationally recognized artists and ensembles to the Abbey Basilica at Belmont Abbey College. The series offers a diverse range of musical programs, from classical guitar and flute and harp to chamber music and vocal performances, providing cultural opportunities for both the college community and the public.
The November concert features The Candide Quartet performing music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Felix Mendelssohn. Formed in 2023 at the Juilliard School, the quartet has quickly established itself as one of the country’s promising young chamber ensembles.
The Candide Quartet was named the inaugural recipient of the Barnebl String Quartet Fellowship and has held fellowships at several festivals. The ensemble recently made its debut at Alice Tully Hall through Juilliard’s Honors Chamber Program and has also performed at Carnegie Hall.
