The Garibaldi Festival celebrates Belmont’s artistic spirit and historic roots—bringing the community together to explore, create, and experience the town in a new way.

Stroll through Stowe Park and along Main Street where artists, musicians, historians, and local businesses create a lively festival atmosphere filled with color, sound, and storytelling. Plein Air Painting & Wet Paint Art Sale

One of the festival’s most anticipated traditions is the annual plein air painting competition hosted by the Gaston County Art Guild. Artists from across North Carolina set up their easels throughout Downtown Belmont, capturing the beauty and character of the town in real time.

Visitors can watch as paintings come to life throughout the day, offering a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the creative process. Once completed, many of the works are available during the popular Wet Paint Art Sale, giving guests the opportunity to purchase fresh, one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by Belmont itself.

Shop Local Artisan Vendors

Browse a curated marketplace of 40+ artisan vendors showcasing handcrafted goods and original artwork. From fine art and ceramics to jewelry, textiles, and unique handmade items, the vendor market highlights talented makers from across the region.

Take your time exploring each booth—you may discover a new favorite artist or find the perfect piece to bring home as a reminder of the day.

Live Music & Performances

Music fills the air throughout the festival with a lineup of local musicians and performers bringing energy to Downtown Belmont. From acoustic sets to lively performances, the festival stage creates a welcoming soundtrack that invites visitors to relax, gather with friends, and enjoy the moment.

Living History Day

Step back in time during Living History Day at the Belmont Historical Society Museum. Historical exhibits offer a glimpse into Belmont’s past, sharing stories of the people and industries that shaped the community.

It’s a unique opportunity to experience local history in an engaging and interactive way while learning more about the town’s origins—including its early days as Garibaldi Station.

Guided Mural & History Tours

Discover Belmont’s growing collection of public art during guided walking tours through downtown. These tours highlight several of the city’s murals while sharing stories about Belmont’s history, culture, and creative community.

Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the artwork that has helped transform Downtown Belmont into a colorful and inspiring destination.

Tours will take place at 1:00 PM & 3:00 PM. Attendees will meet at 100 S. Main Street to begin.

Family Activities & Community Art

The Garibaldi Festival welcomes guests of all ages with opportunities to create, explore, and take part in the day’s creativity. Families can participate in the “My Town” community chalk art activity hosted by Down Under Design, where visitors are invited to grab a piece of chalk and help transform the pavement into a colorful community canvas.

Food Trucks & Beverage Garden

No festival day is complete without great food. A lineup of local food trucks will be serving a variety of festival favorites and creative bites throughout the day, offering something for every taste—from savory meals to sweet treats.
